John Mahony began training in the Moo Duk Kwan in 1984 at Kenyon’s Tang Soo Do in San Diego and became a full-time instructor in 1990 and a Certified Instructor (Kyo Sa) in 1992. His instructor is Daymon Kenyon Sa Bom Nim. In 1999 he successfully tested for his Master Instructor Certification (Sa Bom) along with his Sa Dan (4th degree). In 2017, Mahony Sa Bom successfully tested for the rank of Chil Dan (7th degree) and has been an instructor at Kenyon’s Soo Bahk Do for over thirty years.

In December 2020, Mahony SBN relocated to Montgomery, Texas and began instructing at Guinn Sa Bom Nim’s school Montgomery Karate. Mahony Sa Bom Nim enjoys teaching challenging classes with emphases on the technical aspects of the Art. Master Mahony has served in many roles for the Federation in his time and currently serves as an Appointed Board Member for the US Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation.
